HBK TV: WORKING OUT THE SEALED CLUTCH WAY

27 Nov

Saturday, November 22, 2014 I had my 2nd session with Cameil Ross of Sealed Clutch and I just had to share this amazing workout. I have a issue with person trainers, because they are just so CRAZY! They never understand that you’re a beginner and they are never affordable. Well, I stand corrected…. this young lady Cameil Ross reached out to me through Instagram and I said okay why not. Since I am now on my Brooklyn Bridge Challenge I felt this could be a good add on to my workout journey.  And I am glad I did.

This Thanksgiving Ross is offering a Black Friday sale so don’t miss out @sealedclutch (This is not a paid advertisement) When you come across something amazing from someone so awesome, you should share the information with people you love!

The Queen is Back: Solange wedding was Epic

18 Nov

I haven’t seen such a beautiful rendition of a Royal Wedding. Solange definitely broke the internet with her all white wedding, where she wore an off white pants suit with a gorgeous trail. I don’t know if I was the only one that though Jay-z had to be there. If Jay-Z didn’t come, it would be all over the tabloids about the reason he didn’t show etc. So good decision in rocking your all white Jay- Z. I love Beyonce, but even for Beyonce her dress didn’t do anything for her. Simple white sleeveless dress.. well I was just floored by Solange and her mother Tina Knowles. They killed the looks, and revived their inner African Queens. Solange, Son and Blue Ivy rocking fros. One just couldn’t help but wonder where was Papa Knowles 😦 , still a beautiful family!

Although Solange nailed the Wedding, the pressure must have gotten to her. She broke out in the worst way with hives. I am hoping she is able to get that under control and enjoy her honey moon. I guess when you have to change like 3 times, ride a bike, dance in the street for 10 blocks and have Jay-Z around you, I could understand the break out.

DRAMA QUEEN: VIDEO RELEASE EXCLUSIVE

2 Jun

This Saturday, May 31st  I made my way to the talented and beautiful Drama Queen‘s video release event in Harlem, NY. The spot was all the way turned up as the Dj filled the space with some amazing dance tunes. The setup was definitely Jamaican style, with little flags as decor. As the crowd grew, I met up with Lyfe Style Music group’s very own Pablo (celebrity Stylist). I must say Drama Queen’s team was very much on it, greeting and raffling off sponsored gifts from Yard Girl Jewelry, Bellosa, Trendy Little Things and much more.photo 3 photo 2The ladies were in the building dressed to kill, especially Valerie, Drama Queen’s Publicist. I waited on the sideline until Drama Queen made her entrance. She arrived rocking her statement hair colored blue and turquoise, If anyone could pull it off it was Drama Queen. She looked amazing! photo 1As people took pictures at the step and repeat, the anticipation heightened for the performances and the release of the “Dem Nuh Like Me” video. If you were not able to make it to the event on Saturday you will be able to watch the exclusive video right here with me.

LIFE AFTER INDIQUE

29 Mar

How many people land a Job doing what they love to do and get the chance to meet amazing people? well, I had that opportunity when I was hired by Ericka Dotson of Indique Hair for the Flag Ship location in Soho, NY. Working there I learned that hair was not only a hobby it was a career for me. Working at Indique Hair groomed me in many ways, I learned how to be fashionable, apply make up and how to pick the best hair. I looked to Ericka and the rest of the staff for advice on going to school or handling difficult customers. Though I have been doing hair since I was in Middle School, as I worked at Indique as a Sales Consultant I was unable to do much but sale and refer to Partner Stylists. When I decided to go to Cosmetology School, I received support from Ericka, the Marketing Staff, fellow Liaisons, Partner Stylists and loyal clients. It made since to further my education in Hair and beauty, since so many people valued my knowledge on hair products.

Screenshot_2014-03-27-16-03-35-1After a few months passed going to school as a part-time student, it began to conflict with my work schedule and had to make a decision. Do I stay unlicensed and continue working as a customer liaison or Do I quit, get licensed and freelance? Those questions ran circles in my head for another few months, until I made my decision. I pursued my license in Cosmetology and left Indique. It was bitter sweet but I had to put my career first. After leaving I stayed in contact with most of the staff, which made it feel like I never left. Like any job you leave it will be a little awkward and iffy but when you are a good worker who has also put the company’s best interest first, only good things can come.

I wasn’t only into hair, I also founded a non-profit Yadestiny Treasure Chest, Inc. that provides clothing for underprivileged children and was trying to also get a handle on that. But I seem to be getting recognition for both hair and philanthropy. I graduated and 4 months later received my  Cosmetology License. So excited I shared the news with Ms. Dotson, it  was encouraging to have her reply to my text with: “that’s amazing! So Proud of you! You go Karyne!”. Many ex-employees aren’t privileged with receiving a Congrats from their former bosses, but that wasn’t the case with Indique. I was also asked to work with them on a few assignments as a hairstylist. Just think, if I would have never pursued my license this would not have occurred. My life after Indique is really not a life without Indique. I am now a Partner Stylist and have always remained an Indiquenista! Screenshot_2014-03-27-16-03-12-1 Screenshot_2014-03-27-16-02-50-1

Words of advice to anyone who is thinking of leaving a job, don’t leave on a bad note. Be true to yourself and do your work to the best until the end. It doesn’t pay to burn bridges, cause you never know who will present you with an opportunity in the future.
