10 Beauty Tips:
  1. Prevent frizz and speed up your drying time by using paper towel to wring water from your hair after shower. The paper won’t create as much friction as a towel, so you end up less frizzy. Also a paper towel absorbs more water than a cloth towel, speeding up your drying time.
  2.  When tweezing, make sure you soften your skin before you start by dabbing a cotton ball soaked in warm water or cream. When tweezing, do so in the direction of your hair’s growth.
  3. To stretch your hair color you can use DIY home glaze. Glazes fill holes and rough spots in your hair shafts, helping smooth your mane and putting moisture back into your hair. This  will keep your color shiny, bright and  lasting longer.
  4. Get moisture back into your skin in half the time by using hair conditioner to moisturize your hair and body. Just massage it in head to toe in the shower, rinse and dry. The conditioner will moisturize just as well as body lotion.
  5. If you run out of makeup remover, use body lotion or Olive oil with a cotton ball  to remove makeup. It also works well on tough mascara.
  6. Get more for your money, by applying styling products 10 minutes before you style. Whether you are curling, straightening, or doing an updo, applying product 10 minutes in advance helps it fully absorb into your hair.
  7. Refreshen makeup in a snap. Lightly mist your face with toner, then pat with a tissue. Finish up with a dusting of loose powder to seal everything back into place.
  8. A quick way to hide new growth or grey hair if you dont have time to get a color retouch. Simple use mascara if you have dark hair. For blondes or redheads try dusting your roots with eye shadow or bronzing powder then seal with hair spray.
  9. To get smoother result when shaving legs, wait until after your shower to shave. The steam softens hairs for closer shave and smoother results.
  10. Two tricks to stop flyaway hair. Spray Static Guard on your comb or brush.  Or you can yous a dryer sheet on your hair.

DOPE PROS: Bass Fishing with Pro Angler Torcia

Fishing

Through the Wire with African-American Pro Angler—Torica Whitty

Since its humble beginnings in the late 19th century—the professional sport of bass fishing, which involves the angling of a rod with hopes of catching a black bass (the second most sought-after game fish in the United States)—has evolved into a multi-billion dollar industry, which was once entirely represented by Caucasians—that is, until 1976—when Alfred “The Frog Master” Williams became the first African-American male Pro Angler to fish in a B.A.S.S. pro event; and in 1984—Williams became the first African-American to fish the Bassmaster Classic. He courageously broke through bass fishing’s color barrier, and ever since then—a small door has been opened for minorities to compete in the competitive outdoor world of bass fishing. HBK TV: WORKING OUT THE SEALED CLUTCH WAY

27 Nov

Saturday, November 22, 2014 I had my 2nd session with Cameil Ross of Sealed Clutch and I just had to share this amazing workout. I have a issue with person trainers, because they are just so CRAZY! They never understand that you’re a beginner and they are never affordable. Well, I stand corrected…. this young lady Cameil Ross reached out to me through Instagram and I said okay why not. Since I am now on my Brooklyn Bridge Challenge I felt this could be a good add on to my workout journey.  And I am glad I did.

This Thanksgiving Ross is offering a Black Friday sale so don’t miss out @sealedclutch (This is not a paid advertisement) When you come across something amazing from someone so awesome, you should share the information with people you love!

One Ratchet Play

10 Oct

It’s been a very long time since I seen something so ratchet! Well, on Sunday, September 28th, 2014 I went to view the Release the Kraken. The play wanted to shine light on the most ratchet situations and the different people who were ratchet, they definitely succeeded. I always new that ratchet is not a skin color, but a life style and that’s exactly what the play exposed to its audience. There were tons of cursing so if you are a person like myself who tends to avoid vulgar language, I suggest you cover you ears when going out to see this play. There were some funny scenes; K. Michelle, Stevie J and Joseline Hernandez skit cracked me up. At the end the cast, writer and director sat and spoke to the audience telling  us about their journey. I also spotted their Publicist Shirley Paul mingling with the show’s supporters. They totally released the Kraken!

HBK Confessions: Beyonce’s Flawless Remix hmmmmmm

5 Aug

I love me some Beyonce and Even Nicki but this collaboration was sorry to say but an epic fail! The beat and lyrics were all over the place and to me this just depreciated the value of Beyonce. I looked at Beyonce as someone that was on legendary status and now well… a joke. Nicki’s whole image has been a joke and it works for her. No shade thrown anyone’s way but I felt if Queen Bey would have chosen someone to create and share a hit record with, it would have been Continue reading

Back to the dating Board: Pt. 2 of Third Date

27 Jul

So it’s been a while since my last post about my Third date with the new guy. It’s has been a journey and now I’m on my way to the movies with a 6 foot Irish/ Italian Man. So as we were walking to the movies he was a little slow and awkward (it was his first time dating  a black girl). so I am so eager to tell you all what’s been going on!

I would love to walk you through this date but I think I should just go straight to the point. We were in the movies and while sitting there watching the movie he kept his distance. Why you ask? Well, there was a black man sitting next to him and he felt afraid. Smh. I? thought he was a grown man, regardless being white. There wasn’t any chemistry, I tried to keep an open mind but it was an epic fail. I thought that if I continued to talk to him I would get to know him, but I didn’t know I would discover a crazy, insecure and penny pitching man. you wonder why I state these things? well…… Continue reading

BACK TO THE DATING BOARD: THIRD DATE

24 Jun

Just back to the dating board and right now I feel so drained and disappointed. My first online date did not go so well only because I felt the Swedish guy might have had a hidden agenda. If you have not read my last dates and how it has gone please check them out.. how ever, I must tell you since my last date I have been talking and messaging this Italian and Irish man who happens to live in Brooklyn, NY and 6 foot tall. I am only 5’5″ so I have been thinking is that really tall? Will I have to tip toe? Well, those are my thoughts. He began to message me in the morning at work, saying he thought of me and could wait to meet me. He would call me on his break and I thought that was so cute and felt like I was able to tell hime everything and anything.

This time I he offered to go to the movies and see 22 Jump Street, and I was quite pleased about the movies.. we mentioned the promenade in Brooklyn but I thought we could do that on another date. Our first date my third online date was coming soon and he was just as nervous or probably more. See I was the first black woman he will ever go out with, but he said it made no difference. Our date was Friday night and he was coming from work to meet me at the court street movie theatre. Since it was the movies I dressed comfortably in a Blazer, silk sleeveless top, fitted pants and flats. At 8:30 I headed for the Barclays to meet him there. When I ascended up the escalator out the train station I walked toward the Star bucks but notice no one was there. I thought to my self good, i’m first now I get to be the calm one. As I sat there, I looked around and decided to call him. Hey, are you close I asked. He responded, that he was there but walked off. ( Why would someone walk off knowing they are meeting some?) Well, I said I am here now so come back. as we were talking someone waved at me from a distance. I didn’t have my glasses and  looked confused. When she came closer I seen who it was and let out a surprised” Hey ! What’s up” He was still on the phone and since he was on his way I told him that I would call him back, I didn’t want to be rude to either of them.

After talking with my friend, I called him to see if he was close and he said, he had stopped walking when I hung up the phone. ( yeah, he stopped. Wth right) He explained that he felt like I blew him off for a male friend of mine. I told him it was a female friend from High School and I didn’t want to be rude by keeping him on the phone since he was suppose to be already walking to meet me. ( Some reason I feel like he was waiting around the side of the Barclays). He turned the corner and walked towards me, I must admit he did look a little different from what his picture displayed. He was much more slimmer than his pic. See my type of guy has a nice strong back and some smoothness to him. He gave me a hug and I could tell he was nervous. I was sort of speechless but I was still with an open mind. We walked towards the movie theatre, he looked down at me and said your not that short. I smile and said well you’re not that tall. The awkwardness was gone.

For more on Part 2 of my third date please subscribe to my blog and share with others. Comment if you like, tell me if there are any pre existing issues I should be concerned with.

Love ya!

TABOO TUESDAY: METRO CARDS

24 Jun

metor card in use

Has anyone realized that more and more money is being spent on paying for Metro cards in NYC? Today I wanted to talk about the fact that wages are the same for the last 5 years but a monthly metro card has went from $30 to $104 and soon to go up again. what are we doing as a society, just sitting back and dying. Living from pay check to Pay check. By the way a weekly metro card is now $30, this is so crazy. The transit system will continue to win because we depend on the service they provide no matter how much it sucks. No security and clean anything! If people are subjected to pay so much every year, there should be more offered instead of interrupted weekend schedules and faulty signals. Bus drivers are not being supervised, if they were they wouldn’t be so late running behind each other causing a longer wait time. I don’t know about you but I actually read the bus schedule and rely on it.

I do agree with charging for new metro cards, because it does help decrease trash. People are holding on to their metro cards for dear life now. I just wanted to talk about something no one seems to mention anymore, Metro Cards. When it gets to be to much I will be walking or staying home.

If you have any comments on Metro Cards and how it helps or hurts please do so. Also, Subscribe and share this blog with others. Love ya!

BACK TO THE DATING BOARD: SECOND DATE

5 Jun

What so many have been waiting for…. my second date post.  Warning: You can’t read about my second date until you read the 3 parts of my first date . Well, in my previous posting I wrote about my experience with this blue eye’d, blond haired, tall white guy from Sweden with facial hair. So far it has been getting super spicy like fried chicken with some hot sauce..lmbo . Just a recap:  We drank, kissed, held hands, went to his place and made out some more and no red flags went off. Okay, now with that being stated, I got ready for our second date. This time we planned to go to the movies like the first time but that didn’t work out as planned on the first date. I wanted to see X-men.. I know it might not be the best for a date but hey I wanted to finally see it!

I wore a loose shear shirt, tank underneath, nice fitted pants and flats( yes flats I was not about that train and potential walking life in no heels). I promise I was looking right. I curled my hair (on the first date I had Janet box braids) I texted him confirming 9pm at Union Square and he responded “yes I will be there, just been drinking  and Continue reading
